Papa Chris and Leila

The absolute high light of my trip to Basque Country was meeting Leila Ruth Probasco. Just look at that face and those precious fingers! Chris and Megan are already incredible parents and I know Leila will be well loved and trained in the grace of the Lord.

The Mother of Many

I love that our little girl still loves dolls. Here is a picture of her and our walk to get the mail. She referred to herself as: "A Mother of Many."

Our Newest Member

Jillian has just celebrated her eighth birthday. To her extreme delight, we bought her a mock "American Doll," who happened to come with the name "Jenny." I thought "Jenny" would inevitably recieve a new name-being that there already was one abiding in our home. But, no, we now have two Jenny's in our home, and I am just going to have to get used to it. It must have been how my father-in-law felt when Gerald was christened after him.
Jenny has been a lovely addition to our home, and certainly feels like we have a fourth child now. She accompanies our family everywhere. To mealtime. To church. To the grocery store.
So, without further adeui....JENNY.

What Is The Recession For?

This is GREAT perspective about the current economic down turn and faith. We know God purposes or allows every action in all of life, so why this recession?

  1. He intends for this recession to expose hidden sin and so bring us to repentance and cleansing.
  2. He intends to wake us up to the constant and desperate condition of the developing world where there is always and only recession of the worst kind.
  3. He intends to relocate the roots of our joy in his grace rather than in our goods, in his mercy rather than our money, in his worth rather than our wealth.
  4. He intends to advance his saving mission in the world—the spread of the gospel and the growth of his church—precisely at a time when human resources are least able to support it. This is how he guards his glory.
  5. He intends for the church to care for its hurting members and to grow in the gift of love.

Mom and Dad in Basque Co!

My parents were coming to babysit for us... But since we are here in the States, they are there with our team and having a blast! Here they are walking in the historic town of Guernica.

Simple Pleasures

My husband has a light heart and an easy laugh. I love him for it. Lately, he has found a little something that makes me clap my hands and squeal like a little girl. It goes a little something like this:
Starbucks Drive-Thru Worker: Hello, welcome to Starbucks, what can I get for you?
Gerald: an 8 ounce (short) coffee with a little cream, please.
Starbucks Drive-Thru Worker: Okay, anything else for you today, sir?
Gerald: Yes, add a double shot of love in that coffee, too.
Starbucks Drive-Thru Worker: Uh...well, SURE! (stunned, but pleased.)
Me: (clapping my hands and squealing like a little girl) :)
